Pre-Camp Testing Information

Please see here and below for two important documents: COVID Testing and Telemed FAQs  and the Patient Consent Form

For the health and safety of everyone in the Camp Ramah of the Berkshires community, we have established a pre-camp testing protocol for all campers and staff.  Please read through the following information carefully.  Please note: EVERY CAMPER must follow this testing protocol, regardless of if the camper has received the Covid-19 vaccine.

Prior to the opening day of Camp, all campers must take a PCR COVID test twice according to the following timeline:

TEST #1: One test 10-14 days before camp (test must be administered between June 16-June 20)
TEST #2: One test 3 days before the start of Camp, on Sunday, June 27th

In order to make this pre-Camp testing process as easy as possible, we have partnered with Diligent Urgent Care to offer at-home and in-person testing.  You may opt to use your own testing site, or to use Diligent Urgent Care, as long as the timing is aligned with our dates and deadlines.  Please carefully read the information below to understand these options.

TEST #1:  10-14 days before camp (must be administered between June 16-June 20)

You have two choices for this test:
1. You may take your child to your own healthcare provider or testing location for this PCR COVID test during this date range (June 16-20), and then submit the results to Camp (the process for submitting your child’s results is still being worked out, we will let you know the details in the coming weeks).

2. You may take an at-home PCR COVID test provided by Diligent Urgent Care. This test will go through insurance and there you will have no copay or other charges for this service.  **Please note: if you choose this option, a telemedicine appointment in advance is required. This must be scheduled ASAP (i.e., by the end of the week).**

To take advantage of the at-home test option, please follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Call Diligent Urgent Care to schedule a BRIEF (approx. 5 minutes) telemedicine appointment at 201-834-8887 or CLICK HERE.  You can book your appointment starting today.  This telemedicine appointment must take place by June 9th.  The timing is tight, so it is imperative that you schedule this appointment ASAP.

Please identify yourself as a Camp Ramah in the Berkshires camper.
Be prepared to provide your insurance information.
You will be asked to pick a time to meet with a Physician Assistant VIRTUALLY.

STEP 2: Once your Telemedicine Appointment is Made:
You will receive an email and/or a text on the day of your appointment with a link to connect virtually with the Physician Assistant at your scheduled telemedicine appointment time.

In advance of this appointment, please fill out and submit a Patient Consent Form. The form can be found on, and uploaded to, your CampMinder dashboard.

At your scheduled telemedicine appointment (expect appointment to be approximately 5 minutes):
Please identify yourself as a Camp Ramah in the Berkshires camper.
A parent or guardian must be present for anyone under the age of 18.
You will be asked a few questions about your possible COVID exposure.
Inform Physician Assistant that you are required to have an at-home PCR prior to Camp.
Confirm mailing address for at-home PCR test.
Physician Assistant will input an order for your at-home PCR test to arrive in time for the 10-14 day pre-camp testing window.

STEP 3: At-home PCR
An at-home PCR test will be shipped to you following your telemedicine appointment. Please call 201-834-8887 if the PCR test is not received by June 20th.

Swab and send your specimen back to the lab in the prepaid envelope between June 16-June 20.
Results will be emailed to you and provided to Camp Ramah of the Berkshires.

TEST #2: Must take place 3 days before opening day, on Sunday, June 27th

You have two choices for this test:
You may take your child to your own healthcare provider or testing location for this PCR COVID test on Sunday, June 27th, and then submit the results to Camp (the process for submitting results is still being determined, we will let you know in the coming weeks).

You may schedule a time to bring your child to one of four designated Ramah Berkshires-Diligent Urgent Care testing sites.* We will be offering appointments for these tests from 10 am – 3 pm on June 27th at four locations (New Jersey, New York City, Westchester, and Long Island, exact testing locations will be announced in the coming weeks).  Again, this test will go through insurance and there you will have no copay or other charges for this service.

*If you would like to use one of our testing sites, stay tuned for details in the coming weeks about locations and how to schedule an appointment.
