It is with great pleasure that Camp Ramah welcome back the WOLFoods Iron Chef team leaders from 2014 to once again amuse our pallets in 2015. The talent in the Ramah kitchen is second to none looking more like a team you would find at a Michelin rated restaurant. Please join in welcoming back Food Service Director John Leinhardt, Head Chef Jason Ferrell, and Pastry Chef Carlos Carlos.
John Leinhardt can be found in the Chadar at every meal with a big smile and an unwavering desire to please. Originally from Manchester, England, John now makes his home in Washington, DC. Of his many accomplishments, John has held title as General Manager of The Inn at Little Washington, General Manager of Jean Georges Steakhouse in Washington DC, and Director of Restaurants at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas. Though fine dining is in John’s roots, the embrace of Jewish community and his relationship with WOLFoods founder, Michael Wolf, has brought John to Camp Ramah for his second straight summer. We are so thrilled to have John as our Food Service Director again!
“Watching Jason Ferrell cook is like a magician in the kitchen” said Amy Rosuck, Ramah’s business manager, when observing Jason Ferrell putting the finishing touches on a dish. She’s not wrong! Jason knows his way around a kitchen making every stroke with his knife look effortless. His food is simply delicious! Jason has cooked as Chef de Cuisine at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Head Chef at Jefferson’s Restaurant at the Homestead in Virginia, and has even worked as a chef in Dubai. Jason’s respect for food, devout religious observance, and mild manner makes him the perfect chef for the demands of the Camp Ramah kitchen. We cannot wait to enjoy Jason’s food again this summer!
Carlos Carlos (No that is not a typo, his name really is actually Carlos Carlos) blew us all away last summer. The goodies that came out of the addition of a Camp Ramah Bakery can solely be credited to Carlos. Fresh Challah, Breakfast Pastries, Cookies, Brownies, Cakes, Dinner Rolls, even Churros! Yum Yum Yum! Carlos too has an unbelievable background. He has been an Executive Pastry Chef in Las Vegas bakeries such as Caesars Palace, Paris, the Flamingo, and Turn Berry Place – a Charlie Palmer Restaurant. All that is remarkable but speaking to Carlos even just once makes you understand what a great addition he is to Camp Ramah. Carlos ends every conversation with “Bless You.” No, not because you sneeze, but because in his heart he wants everyone to be blessed. Carlos, we are blessed to have you back, baruch hashem.
