What do James Dean, Wolverine, David Bowie, Michael Jordan, the I.D.F., MTV, Peter Pan and Sisters in Traveling pants have in common? Yom Tzrif (bunk day)!
Yom Tzrif is one of the best days a Tzeirim chanich gets to experience. The madrichim plan activities that revolve around a theme and share it with their chanichim! All of the madrichim chose creative themes and planned extremely original peulot for their tzrifim! One of the ideas was Yom Space Jam, with the chanichim turning themselves into all kinds of aliens (and loony toons!) and attempting to play basketball. After the game, the chanichim discussed the lessons that the movie can teach us, like believing in yourself, teamwork and the importance of role models and heroes.
Another was Yom “Mored” (rebel)- the madrichim had the chanichim dress up as history’s favorite rebels and had a fun filled day of rebellious activities!
A special moment in the middle of the day was when we had the “siyum”– finishing ceremony for the chanichim that participated in the tefillin project. It was a truly unique experience for the chanichim, building their own sets of tefillin from step one, and it was amazing to see them all put on their tefillin for the first time while reciting the brachot!
We took advantage of bishulim, the zip line, rock wall, mountain biking, tallit making and more!
We aren’t done with first session yet! We have a special Shabbat planned, celebrating some chanichims’ last summer on A-side, and looking forward to their first summer on B-side, in Solelim 2012!
