Has it really been only one week?! The variety of activities that we have had this week were amazing! Our peulot erev ranged from “good ol’ fun” like dodge ball and human foosball, to tzrif and edah bonding like a 4th of July inspired trivia and a “how well do you know your bunkmate” game show!
Our Yom Daled was entitled “Large and In Charge” and it was all about ruling Machane Aleph. We made a strong entrance at dinner as an edah, dressed in black with intimidating face paint. We stood out the entire Yom, and throughout the fun peulot we also took a perek to discuss the meaning behind our yom, and the repercussions and rewards of being a dugma, a role model.
When necessary, we also know how to be serious. We’ve been trying to make our tefillot special by writing down our favorite prayers and decorating our makom tefilla with the prayers. We balance out our Torah readings with “parasha plays” and have had interesting (and awesome!) people give us divrei torah.
There are indescribable moments that are also highlights, such as when chanichim sit together on a mirpeset, singing and jamming on their guitars. Madrichim have been doing special activities at night with their chanichim like reading passages out of inspiring books like “Alex Singer: Building a Life” and “Letters from Yoni,” followed by incredibly deep and powerful discussions about these larger than life figures.
