Solelim 2011 is off to a great start! After over a week of staff training and preparation, our madrichim were thrilled to welcome seventy-seven ecstatic chanichim. After getting settled into their tzrifim, Solelim participated in their first peulat erev, which was full of creative getting-to-know-you-games.
On Wednesday, our chanichim were able to experience their first full day of Camp as B-siders. Their day included various omaniyot, from mitbachon to boating, choosing a JV chug sport, and their first yehadut classes! We also held auditions for our play, “Guys and Dolls,” and are incredibly excited to begin rehearsals this Sunday.
Additionally, Solelim is looking forward to our first Shabbat in Camp, Shabbat M’Ever La’Gesher (Shabbat Across the Bridge,) in which the campers will not only learn about what Shabbat is like on the B-Side of camp, where the tefillah experience is a bit different, but also where campers have the opportunity to delve into substantive Jewish issues in a serious way. Our goal for Shabbat is to work on building a strong edah identity.
