What a fun week in Shorashim 2011! On Sunday we returned to our regularly scheduled routine, starting new rotations of all peulot for our chanichim to learn from and enjoy throughout the week. At night we had a backwards scavenger hunt, during which chanichim dressed up, got creative and had a lot of fun. On Monday night, we had a Daber peulat erev during which chanichim brainstormed what they might want to implement in Camp and wrote a Hebrew jingle about their idea.
Tuesday night we broke out our Yom Daled, Yom Harry Potter, with a journey to Hogwarts, a sorting ceremony and the learning and performance of house cheers. Wednesday was full of fun and magical activities, chanichim immersing themselves into the Harry Potter theme. In the morning we ate breakfast by house and had morning c
lasses including Herbology, and Potions, which were educational and fun. We then proceeded to play Quidditch and go on a scavenger hunt. After lunch and shaat menucha, chanichim played human chess and had afternoon classes including Defense Against the Dark Arts, Care of Magical Creatures, and Divination. We ended off the long day with a siyyum, bishul and exciting peulot tzrif.
On Thursday, our banot had the opportunity to go stargazing through a telescope with the help of one of our staff members. We also had an active peulat erev during which chanichim had to search for a glow stick while learning a little bit about the army. Friday was another fun day of peulot and preparation for Shabbat. Going into Shabbat Mishpacha I am excited to see the edah grow as a unit, learn more about each other, and have a fabulous Ramah experience.
Until next week, Shabbat Shalom!
