In our first “normal” week in Camp this summer, Cochavim did lots of exciting things beyond our regular routine! Everyone had mitbachon (cooking), where we made cookies in the shape of Israel and omanut (arts and crafts), where the boys made “shrinky dinks” and the girls made headbands. The girls also went on the water trampoline earlier in the week, and everyone has had “midnight mitbachon” and baked cookies as a tzrif (bunk) late at night.
Peulot Erev (evening activities) this week were hilarious and fun, with “amoeba tag” on Saturday night starting off our busy week. On Sunday we played an edah-wide game of gaga, and on Monday we had a reverse scavenger hunt, in which everyone layered on as many articles of clothing as they could and then ran up to represent his or her tzrif in the competition.
On Tuesday we tested our knowledge about our madrichim (counselors) in a game of Jeopardy, and on Wednesdsay we played “Make Your Counselors Laugh.” Thursday night we were privileged to have a visiting astronomer in Camp, and each tzrif spent time star-gazing on the tennis courts and learning about different stars.
Our Yom Daled (Wednesday) this week was “Yom Pixar,” and we spent our day having “Cars” scooter races, “Toy Story” paper bag dramatics, and “Ratatouille” cookie decoration. In the afternoon we watched “The Incredibles” together before having bishul (barbeque) for dinner.
We’re all looking forward to “Shabbat Disney!” Shabbat Shalom from Cochavim!
