“Grease is the word” has been a mantra for Bogrim this past week and all of our hard work finally paid off in our amazing performances of Grease! The chanichim showed off their incredible singing, dancing, and acting for the whole machane and everyone who was in the audience was extremely impressed.
Our machazeh (play) was not the only highlight of the week. After participating in thought-provoking and insightful discussions on Shabbat about Conservative Judaism, tzevet Mishlachat kicked off one of the best Chashi weeks (Chetzi Shavua Israel – Half a Week of Israel) I can remember. The chanichim learned an Israeli dance, sampled authentic Israeli foods from the shuk (market), got cool Chashi sunglasses, and learned a lot about Israel. As an edah, Bogrim loved dancing to Israeli music in the chadar and eating a delicious lunch of falafel and borekas.
On Sunday, our second and third Etgar (Challenge) groups went out and came back with glowing reports. They said that they made friends with people in the edah they had never interacted with before and pushed themselves to try new things. On Wednesday we spent our Yom Daled dressed as pirates as we decorated pirate “ships”, went on a scavenger hunt, and made our madrichim (counselors) walk the plank. This whole week has been jammed packed for Bogrim and we cannot wait for JV Palmer Day coming up next Wednesday and for the Zimriyah on Thursday!
