Gesher 2013 is having fun and working hard! On Sunday evening, the edah was introduced to their CIT campers who they will be working with the rest of the summer. The Gesher chanichim were super excited to begin building relationships with their CIT campers and the younger edot loved meeting the Gesher CITs! The first night our CITs ate dinner with their tzrifim, participated in peulat erev and then helped put the chanichim to bed. It is truly amazing to witness leadership skills emerging as Gesher chanichim step into a their new roles as CIT’s.
On Tuesday, after an early morning wake-up, Gesher headed to New Paltz, New York for a thrilling outdoor adventure that included hiking, biking, repelling and kayaking. A delicious bishul erev with hot dogs and hamburgers cooked by chanichim was the perfect ending to a great day.
Gesher gets involved with the traditional peulot like painting Beit Gesher and having a huge edah paint fight. We are also settling into our daily routine. The edah has been working hard on their va’adot (Programming Committees) and becoming ozerim (specialty helpers). The va’adot started planning peulot erev, y’mei daled, shabbatot and the Gesher tzedakah projects. With guidance from the tzevet the chanichim are working hard and learning how to create educational, fun and meaningful programming for the edah. As ozerim the chanichim are helping out around camp in Al Hagova (Outdoors and Wilderness programming), Agam (Waterfront), Sport, Music, Hofaah (Drama), and Omanut (Art).
The madrichim and I are so proud of each Gesher chanich and we can’t wait to see what they’ll do next!
