ethan lindenMonday night, February 29, the CRB Board unanimously approved the selection of Rabbi Ethan Linden as the new Director of Camp Ramah in the Berkshires. He will officially begin his new position in October 2016. After serving nearly three decades, as CRB Director, Rabbi Paul Resnick will assume a critical new role as Senior Engagement and Planning Director.

A graduate of Cornell, Rabbi Linden received his rabbinic ordination from JTS in 2007. Following graduation, he served as Assistant Director of Camp Ramah in New England for several years, where he was seen as the consummate Ramah leader and mentor. During his years in New England, he taught at the local Schechter School and was the Rabbinic advisor to the Harvard Hillel Conservative Minyan. For the past seven years, he has served as rabbi of Shir Chadash, the Conservative congregation of New Orleans, where he rebuilt a vibrant community devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Rabbi Linden is married to Liba Kornfeld, and they have three school-age children – Adin, Yona and Liav.

Upon accepting his appointment, Rabbi Linden shared these words:

I am thrilled to be joining the Camp Ramah in the Berkshires family. It is exciting and humbling to be part of such a tremendous institution that has served multiple generations of Jews. I hope to be able to build on the wonderful success Rabbi Resnick has enjoyed in his decades of service to the camp, and together with the Board, the staff and our community, take Ramah to even greater success. Camp Ramah in the Berkshires has a vitally important part to play in the creation of our Jewish future, and I am honored to be a part of this camp and that future.

Camp Ramah in the Berkshires is extremely pleased with the selection and grateful for the commitment and diligence of a superb Search Committee under the exceptional leadership of Atara Jacobson. Additionally, the National Ramah Commission, the CRB Board and the CRB Executive committee offered tremendous support throughout the search process.

Rabbi Linden’s positive reputation precedes him, as illustrated in the comments that follow:

He’s a natural leader and community builder.  He possesses a unique warmth. He is both intellectually and spiritually nurturing and balances the two seamlessly. It is really hard to imagine anyone who could be better situated and have more of the skills and temperament needed for this job than he has. Hiring him would be the fulfillment of his destiny to be a Ramah director and would bring Berkshires the sort of Rabbi, educator, and leader, who will push the camp to new heights.

On Sunday, April 10, a reception will be held to officially introduce and welcome Rabbi Ethan Linden to the Ramah Berkshires community.  Camp Ramah in the Berkshires looks forward to working with Rabbi Linden and bringing Camp to new heights and to a grand future.
