June
Last week Camp Ramah in the Berkshires hosted it's 2nd wedding in thirty years! Susie Levithan (Gesher 1999) and Harrison Rubenfeld (Gesher 2000) were married by Rabbi Josh Gruenberg (1989) at the amphitheather over looking Lake Ellis.
May
The JCs (Junior Counselors) attended the ACA attended the Teen LEADership conference at Bank Street College of Education. The purpose of the event was to allow teens to gain some of the knowledge that camp professionals get out of the Tri-State CAMP Conference. The conference provided teens with leadership skills that they can use at school and in the community, as well as camp skills they can use throughout the summer. Teens were also able to add the Conference to their (ever growing) resumes and the conference will help them reevaluate camp as the life changing experience it truly is.
April

In April, Rabbi Roth spent five days at the retreat center at Kibbutz Shefayim training the 21 new shlichim who will be joining our staffs this summer. All first-year Jewish Agency shlichim are required to participate in this intensive training program; returning shlichim join the group for Shabbat.
March
The American Camping Association Conference was held this year on March 15th-18th in Atlantic City. Rabbi Resnick, Rabbi Roth, Rabbi Elias, Amy Rosuck, Josh Smith, Adina Rothman and Amy Winiker attended the conference.
Josh Smith got to try out one of the activities being offered in the exhibit hall. Check it out below!

5th Annual Miriam Klein Shapiro Memorial Lecture

On February 14, over 50 individuals from the Ramah Berkshires community participated in the 5th Annual Miriam Klein Shapiro Memorial Lecture. A former Rosh Hinuch, Dr. Miriam Klein Shapiro, was a beloved member of the Ramah Berkshires community and a lifelong student and teacher of Jewish texts. An evening of Jewish learning is a fitting tribute to her memory.
This year, Camp welcomed Dr. Neil Gillman, renowned Jewish theologist and professor emeritus from the Jewish Theological Seminary. Dr. Gillman spoke on "Elevating Each Moment: God at Ramah." He relayed his personal observations and theories on the success of the Ramah movement, and how Ramah weaves spirituality into its program.
